Editorial & AI-use policy
Last updated:
Standards
- Version-pinned. Every tutorial states the software versions it was written against. When a major version changes behaviour, the tutorial is updated or labelled as outdated.
- Run, not imagined. Commands are executed on a Linux workstation before publication. Output shown on a page comes from those runs, sometimes trimmed (marked with
...). - Cited. Methods are linked to the original publications and official manuals. Where sources disagree, or where something is my own rule of thumb, the page says so.
- Tested tools. The browser tools are open about their equations and assumptions. Their calculation code has unit tests with hand-calculated reference values. The GROMACS templates produced by the .mdp builder are checked with
gmx gromppand shortgmx mdrunruns.
Use of AI
AI writing and coding assistants are used as tools, much as one would use a spell-checker or a search engine:
- Allowed: drafting outlines, improving clarity and grammar, generating first drafts of boilerplate code and tests, and finding relevant documentation.
- Always done by a human: choosing the topics and methods, running every command, checking every number, equation and citation, and the final technical review. Nothing is published without review by the named author.
- Never: publishing unreviewed AI output, inventing citations, or presenting simulated output as real.
Tutorials still awaiting final review carry a visible “in technical review” notice on listings until the named author signs off.
Independence
No software vendor pays for coverage. Advertising does not influence the content. If sponsored content or affiliate links are ever added, they will be clearly labelled.
Corrections
Please report errors on the contact page. Substantive corrections are made promptly, and the "Updated" date on the page is changed. Significant changes are noted at the end of the article.
Authors and review
Every tutorial, note and tool is written and reviewed by Yassir Boulaamane and links to the author page, which lists his background and public research profiles. See about the site.
